Industrial Track
The Industrial Track is an excellent vehicle for companies to advertise and promote their
innovative products and services,
connect with other companies and researchers and engage in discussions about research and development initiatives. It is also a great platform for enabling the communication of researchers focusing on industry-oriented research with industry.
The Industrial Track to be held in Valletta is focused on on Model-based Engineering (MBE) and its applications in various industrial domains such as tele-communication, maritime, automotive, and logistics. The Industrial Track would also like to address other important aspects of applying MBE in practice, including, but not limited to, MBE tools and tool chains, industrial practices, training, technology transfer, standardization, and open source vs. commercial.
This event is held in parallel with a set of related conferences, namely MODELSWARD, ICISSP and BIOSTEC, attracting more than 1200 researchers from more than 60 countries in all continents, creating opportunities for knowledge and technology sharing, and facilitating future collaboration networks involving industrial project partners and interested conference delegates.
Furthermore, a parallel satellite event is being organized to attract European Projects and to stimulate discussions around the new European Framework for supporting R&D,
Horizon 2020, which will include the participation of representatives from the European Commission.
The Industrial Track will include the following forms of participation:
- Lease of a booth (2x2m with a table and chair) for distributing information or for demonstration purposes, which will be free of charge with the registration at the conference of at least one representative of the Company
- Poster Display
- Presentation/Demonstration of project results either orally or in other formats
- Organization of a special session, workshop or a panel/round-table, focused on the company projects and topics of research
- Tutorial
- Company Presentation

Brief Bio
Sébastien Gérard is director of research at CEA and he is the research program leader around the knowledge co-engineering platform of the CEA LIST software and sytem engineering department. Working on research issues related to complex and critical system and software design for more than 20 years, his research interests include correct-by-construction specification and design of complex systems, model-based engineering of complex systems and visual modeling language engineering. He is the CEA representative at OMG for more than 15 years. In particular, he is the chair of the MARTE standardization task force. He is also leading the open-source project, Papyrus (www.eclipse.org/papyrus), the UML modeling tools of Eclipse. In 1995, he has a diploma in mechanics and aeronautics from the ENSMA high-school, in 2000 he obtained a PhD diploma in Computer Science from the Evry university and in 2013 he got his “habilitation à diriger des recherches” diploma in the domain of computer science from the Orsay univiersity. Sébastien is co-leading the Modelia initiative (www.modelia.eu) with Jordi Cabot where they investigate the usage of AI to empower MDE and reversely how MDE can benefit to AI design.
