 - MDE4SI 2015

9 - 11 February, 2015 - ESEO, Angers, France

Within the 3rd International Conference on Model-Driven Engineering and Software Development - MODELSWARD 2015

Carlos Agostinho
Universidade Nova de Lisboa, UNINOVA

Brief Bio
Carlos Agostinho is a Senior Researcher at UNINOVA center, he has an MsC in Computer Science and holds a PhD in the area of industrial information systems by the Faculty of Science and Technology of the NOVA University of Lisbon (FCT/UNL). He is deeply involved in the areas of Product and Process Meta-modeling, Interoperability and Harmonization using Standards since his participation in projects like CEN/AIDIMA/2002/004 funSTEP AP-DIS and IST-2001-52224 SMART-fm. He is quite experienced in research and coordination activities due to his work in several national and international research and development projects in UNINOVA since 2001, where he developed skills in the areas of model-based and semantic interoperability applying MDA/MDI technologies.
Ricardo Jardim-Gonçalves
Universidade Nova de Lisboa, UNINOVA

Brief Bio
Ricardo Jardim-Gonçalves holds a PhD degree in Industrial Information Systems from the NOVA University of Lisbon. He is Assistant Professor at the NOVA University of Lisbon, Faculty of Sciences and Technology, and Senior Researcher at UNINOVA institute. He graduated in Computer Science, with an MSc in Operational Research and Systems Engineering. His research activities have focused on Standard-based Intelligent Integration Frameworks for Interoperability, covering architectures, methodologies and toolkits to support improved development, harmonisation and implementation of systems and applications for data exchange in industry, from design to e-business. He has been a technical international project leader for more than 15 years, with more than 70 papers published in conferences, journals and books. He is a project leader in ISO TC184/SC4.
Guy Doumeingts

Brief Bio
Emeritus Professor of the University Bordeaux 1 (FR) and also the General Manager of INTEROP-VLAB. He is a specialist in the domain of BPM (Business Process Management) and Enterprise Modelling (EM), and one of the inventors of the GRAI Methodology which is recognised as the alone BPM methodology for enterprise decisional structure. He has managed more than twenty important projects during the last twenty years in the domain of CIM (Computer Integrated Manufacturing), Enterprise Interoperability, Enterprise Modelling: (PIRELLI, BRITISH AEROSPACE, IBERIA, SIEMENS, SCANIA, AEROSPATIALE, ALCATEL, SNECMA, SCHLUMBERGER, LYONNAISE DES EAUX, but also several SMEs …). He has published more than 200 articles and five books. He is the former president of the Technical Committee N°5 "Information Technology Applications" of IFIP (International Federation for Information Processing), and is member of the editorial Board of four International Journals.

Global competition and the uncertainty of markets have led organizations and technology to evolve exponentially. Business paradigms have changed from a standalone vision into complex and collaborative ecosystems. Within this context, the Future Internet ( is highly likely to rise new opportunities for creativity and innovation. However, even though this demonstrates an enormous potential, issues such as sustainable interoperability (i.e., the interoperability that convenes the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future changes, meeting new system requirements, and performing adequate adaptation and suitable management of the transitory elements) are impairing a wider impact.

Based on systems engineering principles, modeling is seen as a central activity for the development and life cycle of a product, system, or even the enterprise. They formalize the bridge between the real and digital world and enable the necessary reasoning to enable a dynamic adaptation of the network’s devices, services and applications to the constant market changes.

The goal of this session is to present and discuss advances on MDA/MDI principles, such as architectures, tools, etc., able to support dynamic enterprise services and applications in the scope of a sustainable interoperability. The model-driven service engineering architecture from the MSEE project ( to support manufacturing servitization, liquid-sensing enterprise developments from the OSMOSE project (, or dynamic network enablers from the IMAGINE project ( are some examples for discussion. However, they are just a few among the contributions this special session aims to discuss.
