Special Session on
Effective Modelling and Implementation of Quantities
 - EMIQ 2022

6 - 8 February, 2022

Within the 10th International Conference on Model-Driven Engineering and Software Development - MODELSWARD 2022

Steve McKeever
Uppsala University
Brief Bio
Steve McKeever is an Experienced Associate Professor with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry to both full-time and part-time students. Research interests lie at the interface between life science and computation. Has participated in European funded projects related to biochemical molecular simulations, heart simulations, tumour growth modelling and novel antibiotic research incentive analysis. Doctorate from the University of Oxford focused on Programming Language Tools. Current research involves units of measurement checking, programme synthesis as a means of tackling the interpretability problem of ML artefacts, and IT support for managing the quality of life for people living with diabetes.

This session will cover the specification of both quantities and units of measurement in modelling and programming languages, efficient representation and implementation of both values and quantity types, precision and error detection, fault-tolerance of unit conversions and handling, compile-time and run-time checking, case studies on unit of measurement errors, eco-systems support for quantities and units.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
  • Quantities
  • Units of Measurement
  • Checking
  • Modelling
  • Eco-system Support
