Brief Bio
Philipp Zech is an assistant professor at the University of Innsbruck working at the intersection of software engineering, specifically model-driven engineer- ing, software architecture, and machine learning in the context of engineering digital twins, primarily in the construction domain. He is actively involved in organizing workshops around the topic of engineering digital twins (cf. TwinArch and Digital Twin Engineering: https://www.iese.fraunhofer.de/en/events/twinarch-dte.html, https://dt-engineering.uibk.ac.at; Models4Simulation: https://m4s.uibk.ac.at). In addition, he has experience in organizing special issues (e.g., Frontiers in Neurorobotics, MDPI Electronics) and has worked on the editorial board for Adaptive Behavior (SAGE).
Souvik Barat
Tata Consultancy Service Research
India

Brief Bio
Souvik Barat is a Principal Scientist at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Research, India, visiting researcher at Middlesex University London and adjunct professor at Walchand College of Engineering. His research interests include Digital Twin technology, Modelling and simulation, and Model Driven Engineering. He is actively involved in organizing workshops on digital twins (cf. TwinArch and Digital Twin Engineering: https://www.iese.fraunhofer.de/en/events/twinarch-dte.html, https://dt-engineering.uibk.ac.at, https://enterprisedt- workshop.github.io/workshop/; Models4Simulation: https://m4s.uibk.ac. at). In addition, he has worked as an editor of a special edition of Software and System Modeling (SoSym) journal.

SCOPE

Digital Twin Engineering emphasizes the rigorous modeling of physical, cyber, and socio-economic systems through virtual replicas, facilitating their simulation, analysis, and optimization. This special session will highlight advanced approaches to digital twin modeling, including multi-physics simulations, system dynamics, and hybrid models that integrate both physical and data-driven representations. Key areas of exploration include the challenges of achieving accurate real-time synchronization between models and physical systems, leveraging AI for adaptive modeling, and validating these models for industrial and socio-economic applications. By advancing digital twin modeling methodologies, the session aims to foster innovations that improve system design, operational efficiency, and predictive capabilities across sectors like manufacturing, healthcare, and urban infrastructure.

TOPICS OF INTEREST

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
  • Advanced Modeling Techniques for Digital Twins
  • Multi-Physics, System dynamics, and Hybrid Models
  • AI-Enhanced Digital Twin Modeling and Adaptation
  • Model Validation and Calibration
