Title:

An Ontology-based Security Framework for Decision-making in Industrial Systems

Authors:

Bruno A. Mozzaquatro, Raquel Melo, Carlos Agostinho and Ricardo Jardim-Goncalves

Abstract: Embedded devices based on emerging technologies of the Internet of Things (IoT) are used to provide resources, business models and opportunities to build potential industrial systems improving manufacturing systems with efficient operations. In this context, IoT networks are dynamic environments and changes are also being increasingly frequent, modifying the environment execution. Nevertheless, severe threats will increase the complexity and difficulty to protect existing vulnerabilities in smart devices of IoT network. In this context, this work proposes an architecture of the ontology-based security framework to decision-making using adaptive security model to improve secure information for the industrial systems. IoTSec ontology contributes to feed the system using queries of contextual information collected in the environment. The main contribution of this approach is validated as an integration with C2NET project to ensure security properties in some critical scenarios.

Model-driven Approach for the Interoperability of Enterprises’ Services Information Exchange

Authors:

Catarina Marques-Lucena, João Sarraipa, Carlos Agostinho and Ricardo Jardim-Gonçalves

Abstract: Nowadays, enterprises have been pushed up the rate of industrial transformation to high level products and services. The capability to agilely respond to new market demands became a strategic pillar for enterprises survival. It leads to the necessity of create mechanisms to allow enterprises to combine forces to compete jointly in the market, in order to raise their own added value and to become specialist in niche activities. But to unite forces, enterprises must exchange information/knowledge between them. A semantic problem emerges when the same representation of a thing can have different meanings to different applications and enterprises. It can be a disabler for information exchange and its interpretation. The Semantic Web Service concept emerges as a solution to facilitate Web Services description and consequently discovery tasks, unifying the domain services. Moreover, the data integration between concepts can be achieved trough mappings establishment between Web Services elements. However, a solution that allows to map Web Service elements to semantic concepts represented using OWL is still missing. To face this issue, a model-driven approach supported by a mapping tool is here presented with the aim of facilitate the information exchange trough the establishment of mappings between enterprises services models and the domain reference lexicon.

Performance Monitoring Framework for Service Oriented System Lifecycle

Authors:

Tehreem Masood, Chantal Cherifi and Nejib Moalla

Abstract: Service oriented systems are highly dynamic systems composed of several web services. One of the most important challenges in service oriented systems is to deliver acceptable quality of service. For this purpose, it is required to monitor quality of service along different activities of service oriented system. Existing research focuses on specific activities but do not take into account all the activities of service oriented system together at the infrastructure level. In this paper, we present performance monitoring framework to provide support for the whole service oriented system lifecycle. Our framework integrates several ontologies to monitor the performance of service oriented systems in order to ensure their sustainability. We design a base Service Monitoring Ontology that captures all the information about the service domain. Along with that we design ontologies for technical indicators at service level, binding level, composition level and server level. We conduct a performance evaluation over real web services using suitable estimators for response time, delay, loss and more.
