Title:

Process Oriented Learning and Training - A Model-based Approach in Learn PAd

Authors:

Robert Woitsch, Nesat Efendioglu and Damiano Falcioni

Abstract: Process Oriented Training and Learning can be applied in two different approaches: (a) processes describing the methodology of training and learning as well as (b) processes describing the organizational context that need to be learned. This paper introduces the results of the EU project Learn PAd that developed prototypes of modelling tools enabling business processes for learning and training. Flexibility of business processes have been introduced with case management and knowledge artefacts had been integrated to provide a complete modelling environment. The created meta-model is introduced as well as the mechanisms and the algorithms implemented. The architecture of the modeling tool is also introduced.

A Learning Architecture for Complex Organization

Authors:

Francesco Basciani and Gianni Rosa

Abstract: Modern organizations are challenged to understand and put in action latest procedures and rules in order to constantly improve their service quality while coping with quickly changing contexts and decreasing resources. Such are defined by means of several kind of models that are in general quite interrelated. In this paper, we propose a Learning Architecture using Zachman Framework that allows us to define relations among these models and permits us to handle with huge amount of informations and resources in an organized way. Furthermore, the architecture enables process-driven learning and improvement through enriched models with contextual knowledge in terms of documentation and resources.

Model-based Learning Assessment Management

Authors:

Antonello Calabrò, Francesca Lonetti, Eda Marchetti, Sarah Zribi and Tom Jorquera

Abstract: Model-based simulation and monitoring are becoming part of advanced learning environments. In this paper, we propose a model-based simulation and monitoring framework for management of learning assessment and we describe its architecture and main functionalities. The proposed framework allows user-friendly learning simulation with a strong support for collaboration and social interactions. Moreover, it monitors the learners’ behavior during simulation execution and it is able to compute the learning scores useful for the learner knowledge assessment. The preliminary experimental feedback of the evaluation of the simulation and monitoring framework inside a real environment is also reported.

Workplace Learning - Providing Recommendations of Experts and Learning Resources in a Context-sensitive and Personalized Manner - An Approach for Ontology Supported Workplace Learning

Authors:

Sandro Emmenegger, Knut Hinkelmann, Emanuele Laurenzi, Barbara Thönssen, Hans Friedrich Witschel and Congyu Zhang

Abstract: Support of workplace learning is increasingly important as change in every form determines today's working world in industry and public administrations alike. Adapt quickly to a new job, a new task or a new team is a major challenge that must be dealt with ever faster. Workplace learning differs significantly from school learning as it should be strictly aligned to business goals. In our approach we support workplace learning by providing recommendations of experts and learning resources in a context-sensitive and personalized manner. We utilize users' workplace environment, we consider their learning preferences and zone of proximal development, and compare required and acquired competencies in order to issue the best suited recommendations. Our approach is part of the European funded project Learn PAd. Applied research method is Design Science Research. Evaluation is done in an iterative process. The recommender system introduced here is evaluated theoretically based on user requirements and practically in an early evaluation process conducted by the Learn PAd application partner.

Culture Contextualization in Open e-Learning Systems - Improving the Re-use of Open Knowledge Resources by Adaptive Contextualization Processes

Authors:

J. Stoffregen and Jan Pawlowski

Abstract: The paper provides a contextualization process to adapt Open Knowledge Resources for the need of public administrations. By help of a matching strategy, culture and context profiles of learners and learning resources are compared. The comparison allows to draw inferences how to contextualize an open know-ledge resource for own learning needs. An example is illustrated and future research fields are proposed.
