Title:

Information Models and Transformation Principles Applied to Servitization of Manufacturing and Service Systems Design

Authors:

Carlos Agostinho, Hassan Bazoun, Gregory Zacharewicz, Yves Ducq and Hadrien Boye

Abstract: Based on systems engineering principles, information modelling is seen as a central activity for the development and life cycle support of a product or system. It enables to reduce the costs derived from miscommunications and misconceptions normally occurring throughout the service system design, analysis and maintenance activities. Supporting the servitization of manufacturing and the evolution towards product-service systems or extended products, modelling and interoperability is becoming of utmost importance to ensure coherence among conceptual design phases at organizational levels down to technology development. Therefore, this paper explores the model-driven development and model-driven interoperability transformations principles to unify every step of the development of service systems, from its start at the application's business requirements, through the design of technology independent functions, to deployable services.

SLMToolBox - A Tool Set for Service Engineering

Authors:

H. Boyé, H. Bazoun and K. Belkhelladi

Abstract: This paper presents the SLMToolBox (Service Lifecycle Management Tool Box), a software tool which supports an organization to engineer new services or improve existing ones and to manage its life cycle. The SLMToolBox is a modeling environment dedicated to the domain of service engineering. It is based on the Model Driven Service Engineering Architecture (MDSEA) concepts and supports the first phases of service engineering, in particular: service requirement and service design. The software is developed in the frame of the IP European Project “MSEE” (Manufacturing Service Ecosystem). This paper presents a guided tour around SLMToolBox: its architecture, its main components and functionalities.

Title:

Toward a Unified Intercloud Interoperability Conceptual Model for IaaS Cloud Service

Authors:

Tahereh Nodehi, Sudeep Ghimire and Ricardo Jardim-Gonçalves

Abstract: The concept of interoperation between cloud providers is a recent research challenging objective. Current cloud systems have been developed without concerns of seamless cloud interconnection, and actually they do not support intercloud interoperability. The paper proposes a conceptual model for Intercloud Interoperability, to enable schedule dynamic operation for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) between different clouds. The paper is providing a better understanding of elaborates on the cloud computing architecture, appropriate metrics for Service Level Agreements (SLA) and Quality of Service (QoS) models that are required for seamless integration and interoperability between cloud environments. Then, a conceptual model for the Intercloud Interoperability Framework for Workload Migration is proposed. The novel component of the framework that provides interoperability is the Transformation Engine that maps workload between heterogeneous cloud providers, whilst Model Driven Architecture (MDA) is adopted as an applicable method for developing the Transformation Engine module.

Title:

Modelling Services for Interoperability Negotiation

Authors:

Carlos Coutinho, Adina Cretan and Ricardo Jardim-Gonçalves

Abstract: The evolution of businesses, driven by the advent of the internet and subsequent globalisation, was very quick and sudden. Enterprises that had traditional development strategies and that were used to slow changes are suddenly feeling the urge to evolve or face obsolescence. This fast-paced evolution frequently leads to mistakes and erroneous decisions, many of which are solely detected after a long period. When this happens, frequently the only solution is to return to a previous stable business stage before proceeding. The EU co-funded FP7 TIMBUS project comprises tools and techniques to improve business continuity featuring an intelligent strategy for digital preservation of business assets and environments based on risk-management. This paper proposes the modelling of service-based negotiation strategies to help in two phases: First in the definition of the enterprise business interoperability strategy, and second, in the reasoning of assets and concepts needed for the capture of digital preservation of business assets.
